A Curriculum Model for Measuring Student Growth

Clinic Synopsis:

Teachers are being evaluated by a new system that incorporates student growth measures as a significant factor in their performance ratings. Participants in this session will experience a field-proven music curriculum that produces student performance data that is criterion referenced. Depicting in-depth scope, sequence, assessment, and reporting, the fundamentals of this curriculum can be applied to any music organization. This session is timely and meaningful to all music educators.

William Koch - Biographical Information

William S. Koch was the Director of Bands at Niles West High School – District 219 from 1983-2012, following the legendary Dr. Charles Groeling. In 2007, Niles Township was chosen as the #1 Fine Arts Department in the nation by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National School Board Association. His teaching responsibilities have included three levels of Concert Bands, Beginning Instrumental Music, Guitar Class, Digital Piano, Electronic Music, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Musicals. The Niles West Bands toured across the United States, Canada and Europe.
