Understanding Copyright Law and the Legal Implications for Music Teachers

  • thumbnail for Eric Martin
  • Copyright law and compliance…it’s always been one of those difficult (but necessary) subjects for educators in general and music educators in particular. “To promote the Progress of Science and useful Art, … ” our nation has adopted a set of laws, rules, rights and responsibilities supporting Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, all of which are the source of ongoing dialogue and interpretation, that are the copyright laws of the United States. Join me for an overview of the law and consideration of some of the expectations and most common issues facing music educators concerning compliance with U.S. Copyright law.
