Establishing the “Bottom Line” of Your Ensemble!

Clinic Synopsis:

Featuring members of the Phantom Regiment hornline, this clinic will showcase proven strategies for establishing “The Bottom Line” of your band and orchestra program: the tuba and euphonium section! We will demonstrate exercises, techniques, and other fundamentals that will help guarantee a better foundation for your indoor or outdoor ensemble, no matter what age your performers are!

Christian Carichner - Biographical Information

Christian Carichner is currently Assistant Director of Bands and Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium in the Department of Music at Iowa State University. Holding degrees from Ithaca College and Arizona State University, Christian is an accomplished performer, educator, and artist. In the marching music world, he serves as Brass Caption Head for the Phantom Regiment and a wind instructor for the Aimachi Drum and Bugle Corps from Nagoya, Japan. He is also an award-winning arranger and highly sought-after clinician across the globe. In the concert hall, Christian has performed in 47 different states and 12 countries across the globe with ensembles such as Rhythm and Brass, Proteus 7, Arizona Musicfest, and the national tour of Chicago. Previously, Christian was Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at The University of Central Arkansas, and Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at Northern Arizona University. Christian is an artist for Adams Marching and Custom Brass Instruments.

Kevin Sanders - Biographical Information

Dr. Kevin Sanders is an Associate Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis.  He also serves as the Assistant Director of Student Services and Assistant Director of the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band. While at Memphis, his students have been highly successful in national and international competitions and his tuba ensemble, the Bottom Line, recently released three CD albums. Dr. Sanders has been a performer and clinician in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. He has performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Macau Orchestra (China), American Brass Quintet, Detroit Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, Memphis Symphony, Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra, New World Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra, and the Jeunesse Musicales World Orchestra for their North American and European tours. He recently released his first solo CD, Long Distance. He has authored a play-a-long fundamentals routine for brass, woodwind, and percussionists entitled The Hollywood Warm-Up and is the administrator for Band Director Academy with Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian. He holds degrees from the Interlochen Arts Academy, Indiana University, the Juilliard School and Michigan State University.
