“Lights, Camera, Action - Welcome to the Red Carpet Movie Music Premiere!”

Clinic Synopsis:

This project culminated in a ‘Movie soundtrack premiere’ night. From a position of no prior experience, students created their own movie soundtracks utilizing their knowledge gained of Creative Commons, Sibelius, and Acid Music Studio. All resources used, sample student work and programs will be provided, as well as student feedback on the task. This project incorporated composing, performing and listening and responding elements, and could be easily modified for 12-16 year olds.

Paul McCarthy - Biographical Information

Paul McCarthy is currently the Director of Music at Penrhos College, a private High school for girls K-12 in Perth, Western Australia. After completing his degree at the University of Western Australia, Paul has demonstrated a passion for music theatre. His performance credits include National productions of Wicked and Miss Saigon. Paul received a NEITA(National Excellence in Teaching Award) award nomination and has adjudicated numerous music festivals. Paul was a Western Australian representative at the 2006 Australian National Review of Music Education, and is a current AISWA(Association of Independant Schools WA) representative on the Music Course Advisory Committee (CAC) in Western Australia, a WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) performance examiner, an appointee to the WACE Music Examination writing panel and a member of the State Council of the Australian Society for Music Education(ASME).
