Brass Tactics: Building Virtuosity in the Brass Section

Clinic Synopsis:

Finding new innovative ways to practice is essential as we are bombarded with social media and other distractions. The session will focus on fundamentals aspects that are important to all brass players and how the use of “turn-of-the century” solos can aid in the practice of these essential elements. Participants will leave the session with ideas that can be implemented for immediate improvement with their students back home.

Raquel Rodriquez - Biographical Information

Raquel Rodriquez is the Associate Professor of Trumpet at Northern Kentucky University School of the Arts. Raquel is a versatile musician having appeared as a clinician, soloist, and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and China. Raquel freelances frequently with many regional orchestras in KY/OH, is the principal cornet with the Lexington Brass Band, and is a member of the Cincinnati-based ensemble, The Ohio River Brass Quintet. Dr. Rodriquez is a clinician for the Conn-Selmer and Denis Wick Companies. Dr. Rodriquez holds the DMA in Trumpet Performance from The University of North Texas. She earned the MA and Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Texas A&M University.
