  • Chris Pineda is in his 10th year of teaching, and 9th year as the Director of Bands at Liberty Junior High, in Richardson, TX. Under his direction, the Liberty Symphonic Band has received consecutive Sweepstakes awards at the annual UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, as well as First Division and “Best in Class” awards at area festivals. In 2013, the Liberty Symphonic Band was selected as a finalist in the Texas Music Educators Association CC Honor Band Competition, placing 8th in the state. Mr. Pineda is a Cum Laude Graduate from Meadows School of the Arts of Southern Methodist University, where he received a Bachelor of Tuba Performance Degree and a Masters Degree in Music Education. In the spring of 2011, SMU named Mr. Pineda the Meadows School of the Arts Young Music Educator of the Year. In 2014, Mr. Pineda was named Teacher of the Year at Liberty Junior High and was one of ten teachers selected as a STARS Teacher of the Year for Richardson ISD. Mr. Pineda was also named the Phi Beta Mu 2016 Young Bandmaster of the Year.

  • Lynne Jackson
  • Lynne Jackson is currently in her 46th year as a music educator. She has degrees from the University of Michigan and VanderCook College of Music. Ms. Jackson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Education at Southern Methodist University and also teaches part-time at Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas. In 1983, Ms. Jackson was selected as the Richardson ISD Teacher of the Year. In 2010, Ms. Jackson was awarded the Meritorious Achievement Award by the Texas Bandmaster’s Association. The past five years, Ms. Jackson, along with the wonderful teachers in the Berkner Area, has dedicated herself to turning what some may think of as obstacles into opportunities. Lynne is widely known throughout Texas as a clinician and mentor to young students and teachers.
