Adrian Davis - Biographical Information

Adrian Davis has 17 years of experience in education. He has been with Minneapolis Public Schools since 2010. He currently teaches music at Roosevelt High School. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Music Education at the University of Memphis, and his graduate studies at the University of Saint Thomas. Throughout his professional teaching career, Adrian has established and developed school music programs that advocate artistic and social excellence, and develop learners into leaders and champions of the community. His current position at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis has him developing world and marching percussion, electronic music, band and choral programs. His ensembles have performed throughout the community and region. They have received high ratings in state concert festivals, as well as positive reviews around the community for outstanding performances. Adrian’s work as a music educator was featured on the Classical MPR Choral Stream in January 2014. He was nominated a quarterfinalist for Grammy Music Educator of the Year in 2014 and 2016. He was selected as a top educator in the Celebration of Teachers for Minneapolis Public Schools in 2016. Adrian has also been nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 2017. Adrian is an active member of the Minnesota Music Educators Association(MMEA), and National Association for Music Educators(NAfME). He is also a member of the state and national chapters of the American Choral Directors Association(ACDA). Adrian is an active musician, producer, and songwriter. He is owner of Divers Music, a music performance and production company which he started in 2008. Adrian enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. He, along with his wife, Tyona, and three children, Arielle, Tobias, and Allyse, reside in north Minneapolis, MN.
