Fueling Creativity: Reaching All Learners Through the Arts

Clinic Synopsis:

Integrating core content and fine arts skills helps students develop 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. Students are more engaged, attendance increases and discipline decreases when the arts are included in the general curriculum. We will share our story of how fine arts integration is sparking creativity, collaboration and a love of learning in our students. Fine Arts Integration doesn’t require extra time or money. Let us show you how you can be the spark for change in your school or district.

Carole Mason - Biographical Information

Carole Mason began her teaching career as a middle school choir director and general fine arts teacher in San Antonio and later in Spring, Texas. She was an elementary music specialist in Klein ISD for 12 years earning the Campus Teacher of the Year award in 2005. Carole moved from the classroom to school administration and has served as an assistant principal and principal for 12 years. In 2015, she opened a new elementary campus that is designated as a fine arts integrated campus. While piloting this program for the district, she was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Klein Education Foundation. She has been successful in establishing numerous community partnerships including The Alley Theatre and The Houston Ballet. Carole earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Texas and Masters of Education Administration from The University of St. Thomas. Carole resides in Houston with her husband and son.
