Saving Thousand$ with Maintenance Your Students Can Do

Clinic Synopsis:

With $100 of supplies and equipment your students can be taught to perform daily, weekly, monthly and yearly instrument maintenance tasks that will save you thousands of dollars in repairs. The clinic will demonstrate each of these task live, before a video camera and broadcast onto a large screen for all to see. Appropriate for band directors at all levels, elementary through University.

David Fedderly - Biographical Information

David T. Fedderly, co- author of Brass Instruments: Purchasing, Maintaining, Troubleshooting and More (Meredith Music Publications) retired after 31 years as Principal Tuba of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He has taught at many Universities including Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, The Juilliard School, DePaul University. He is active as a clinician throughout the United States. He also works in conjunction with Dr. Craig VanderKolk, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and David Shulman, Board Certified Physical Therapist diagnosing, rehabilitating and re-training injured brass players. Musician’s Lip Service is located in Baltimore, Maryland He founded Baltimore Brass Co. in 1992, located in Catonsville, Maryland. Sales of new and used instruments and a full repair department distinguish it as a destination for many musicians world-wide. Mr. Fedderly earned a Music Education degree from Northwestern University. He is the 2016 recipient of the International Tuba Euphonium Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sally Wagner - Biographical Information

Recently retired after 40 years as a public school music teacher (37 as a high school band director) Sally is currently the Educational Representative for Baltimore Brass Co. in Catonsville, MD. She is co-author, with David Fedderly, of the book "Brass Instruments: Purchasing, Maintaining, Troubleshooting and More" (Meredith Music Publications) and author of "The Pursuit of Excellence: A Band Director's Guide to Success. Ms. Wagner is the recipient of over two dozen awards for excellence in teaching. She appears often as a clinician at Maryland Music Educator Assn. conferences and at professional development days throughout Maryland.
