  • A native of Dallas, Texas, Ms. Pam Towry played in the Lake Highland High School Band program in Richardson Texas, under the direction of Eddie Green. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, (BM '79) (MM '85 /Instrumental Conducting.) She has taught in the public schools in Texas, and was Assistant Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands, and Percussion Instructor at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. She moved to Santa Fe, NM serving as the Music Department Chair, Director of Bands at Los Alamos High School. She started the band program in Cimarron, NM in the fall of 2000. Bands under her direction have garnered 15 New Mexico State Concert Band championship titles. A frequent adjudicator and clinician in the Southwest, she conducts honor bands, marching and percussion clinics, and band workshops throughout the year. Ms. Towry has served in several capacities on the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the New Mexico Music Educators’ Association and currently serves as Percussion Facilitator for the All-State performing ensembles. She is the Past-President of the New Mexico chapter of Phi Beta Mu, and is a member of the New Mexico Activities Association’s State Concert Band Contest Advisory Board. Ms. Towry was named the Los Alamos Public Schools’ “Teacher of the Year” for 1999-2000. She was the Cimarron Municipal Schools’ “Teacher of the Year” in 2007 and 2011, and was the 2011 National Federation of High Schools “Outstanding Music Educator” for the state of New Mexico. In 2012 she was named “New Mexico Music Educator of the Year.” Ms. Towry was inducted into New Mexico Music Educator’s Associations’ “Hall of Fame” in January of 2015. Pam retired in June, after 40 years of teaching. She and her husband Russell reside in Red River, New Mexico.
