In this participatory session, attendees will acquire tools and tricks for post-pandemic teaching in the beginning strings classroom using digital applications and creative mantras. Topics include exposing our young players to the greatest hits from Handel to hip-hop through play-a-longs, beginner bow tricks and how-to-practice 101. If you have found yourself lost on what or how to teach during the pandemic, you are not alone! Let’s unmask a future with a strong foundation in strings together!
Anna Radspinner
- Biographical Information
Anna Radspinner is an alumnus of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Wilkes University. She has been a music educator for 19 years with teaching experiences ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade in the choral/classroom and in string education. Currently, she is teaching strings in the Williamsport Area School District at the Andrew G. Curtin Intermediate School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Drawing from all of her experiences, Mrs. Radspinner approaches the string classroom from a general music standpoint using Orff-Schulwerk, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Suzuki methodologies to design lessons, arrange music and incorporate what is "relevant" into her style of teaching.
Mrs. Radspinner has been a presenter at numerous conferences including at the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association State Conference, The Texas Orchestra Director Association’s Winter Clinic, the Annual Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference and the National Conference for the American String Teacher Association. She has also been a guest conductor and clinician for several festivals and in-services sessions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina and Texas. Mrs. Radspinner has received the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association Citation of Excellence in Teaching Award, the Pennsylvania Delaware String Teacher Association 2018 String Teacher of the Year Award and was named the Pennsylvania State University Music Educator’s Alumni of the Year for 2019.
