Barret’s Chapel K-8 is a small, rural school that’s part of the large, urban Shelby County Schools TN. Students are from both nearby neighborhoods and areas closer to Memphis. Our school population is diverse culturally and socioeconomically. In 2014, I began the band program when Barret's grew from a K-5 to a K-8 school. This session shares how we became band parents, band students and ultimately became successful together by creating a School Band Home and sustaining it during Covid 19.
