You’ve taken the Clarinet 101 clinic and you’ve started your clarinets. Now what? Some of them are playing flat, some of them are struggling mightily with the altissimo register, and some of them squeak every time they try to play staccato. What to do? After attending the clinic, teachers will leave with specific strategies for helping their clarinet students be more successful with voicing which will improve tuning and make register slurs more secure and consistent.
Christopher Ayer

Dr. Christopher Ayer is Professor of Clarinet at Stephen F. Austin State University where he coordinates undergraduate and graduate clarinet study and performs with the Stone Fort Wind Quintet, SFA’s faculty wind quintet. Over the past ten years he has presented clinics at the Midwest Clinic, Texas Music Educators Association Conference, and the Texas Bandmasters Association Conference, as well as performing at the International Clarinet Association’s annual ClarinetFest. His performances and master classes over that time have taken him to Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and across the United States. Dr. Ayer is a YAMAHA Performing Artist-Clinician.
