In this session, Ms. Mansell will give an overview of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and what
opportunities the Title IV-A Funding can bring to public school music educators. Updates to the 2021
revised provisions in the law will also be covered.

- Biographical Information
Heather Mansell, is the Marketing Manager, Education at Yamaha Corporation of America. An alumnus of the University of Toronto, and with over 17 years in the music industry, Ms. Mansell has helped to shape the music education initiatives at Yamaha. Ms. Mansell was recently named one of the “Smart Women in Music” at the 2020 Winter NAMM Show, and has been a presenter on ways to help build and expand music programs in schools. She is passionately dedicated to helping teachers create the next generation of music makers.
As Assistant Marketing Manager, Education and lecturer at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU, Long Beach, Dr. Gerhart is a nationally recognized performer, composer, and educator. He holds a D.M.A. in Percussion Performance from USC with an emphasis in Music Education.
