The Conductor’s Toolbox: Beyond Basic Score Study for Busy Educators

Clinic Synopsis:

Jeffrey J Meyer provides strategies for getting beyond basic score study and finding the right tool for the job as efficiently as possible. We will explore these applications in works for concert and marching ensembles.

Jeffrey Meyer - Biographical Information

Jeffrey Meyer is currently the Director of Bands at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas and served on the faculties of Sul Ross State University, El Paso Community College, The University of Guam, Highland Community College, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Additionally, he has provided master classes at Wayland Baptist University, Angelo State University, West Texas A&M University and served on the faculty of the First Statewide Band Festival at the Cultural Institute in Tlaxcala City, Mexico. Recently, Meyer served as the conductor/clinician for the 2020 TMEA All-Region 6 Freshman Band in Midland, TX, and the 2019 ATSSB All-Region 22 High School Band in El Paso, TX. He was the tenured principal tubist of the Springfield (MO) Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a substitute tubist with the Mexico City Philharmonic, Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Chihuahua Philharmonic, Juarez Symphony, Roswell Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, and the Fountain City Brass Band, to name a few. Meyer holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Master of Music from Kent State University, and Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music.
