Taking the Fear Out of the Mystery: An Approach to Sight Reading at Music Performance Assessment

Clinic Synopsis:

This presentation will provide directors with a comprehensive approach in preparing their ensembles for sight reading at music performance assessments. Directors will learn to efficiently and effectively prepare their ensembles using exercises developed using the UIL Band Sight Reading Criteria. With the use of a demonstration group, directors will have the opportunity to observe an all-year approach to ensemble preparation and a time-tested and proven process for use in the sight-reading room.
