The "FUN"ctional Music Arrangement - Creating A Simple Arrangement for Instant Performance

Clinic Synopsis:

This session, geared toward early-career educators and those who have limited experience with arranging, will walk the audience through a straight-forward process for creating a new arrangement for marching and pep bands. Details of music resources, basic part doubling, and rhythmic elements will be discussed in the context of creating something fresh with minimal preparation time.

Matt Conaway - Biographical Information

Matt was appointed to the Purdue faculty in August 2012 as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure in July 2018. He serves as an associate director of the famed “All-American” Marching Band, directs the “Boiler Brass” Men’s Basketball Pep Band, and conducts the Purdue Symphonic Band. Conaway is a well-known composer for concert bands, with over fifty original works currently in publication. He is also an accomplished arranger, and has written for athletic bands at Purdue University and many high schools and colleges throughout the country. His compositions and arrangements are available globally through the C.L. Barnhouse Company and the Hal Leonard Corporation.
