Clinic Synopsis:

You’ve worked hard to recruit beginners into your program, so let’s focus on keeping them enthused about music-making! By concentrating on strategies that promote success, provide modeling, allow for meaningful activities, encourage reflection, and ensure trust, students will return annually for exciting musical experiences. Directors will come away from this on-target session with new, easy-to-replicate ideas that can be used to build a foundation that will lead to a solid program year after year.

Marcia Neel - Biographical Information

Marcia is regarded as a leader for her creative approaches to curriculum design and implementation. One of the most successful is the standards-based Mariachi Program instituted in Las Vegas in 2002 with 4 instructors teaching 250 students and now staffed by 23 full-time mariachi educators teaching over 3,000 students. She serves as Advisor to the Music Achievement Council, a non-profit corporation whose main focus is professional development for educators to reach and better serve increasing numbers of music students. Her busy schedule has her presenting motivating keynotes and workshops all across the country for those looking to grow their programs and sharpen their pedagogical skills thus helping their students achieve at a higher level. A former MENC Western Division President, Marcia now leads Music Education Consultants, Inc., as its president. A consortium of music educators, the company works with arts associations and school districts to foster the growth of music programs.
