Tips to the Non-percussionist Band Director for Teaching Beginning Snare Drum

Clinic Synopsis:

It is important for beginning percussionists to have a great beginning experience, just as it is for wind players. This clinic will describe for the non-percussionist band directors the very basics of snare drum playing, including single strokes, concert (buzz) rolls, double-stroke rolls, flams and drags. The clinic will also include some basic warm-ups for the snare drum section, and how playing snare drum will also help build skills for other instruments.
