Clinic Synopsis:

A strong pedagogical and musical foundation is crucial to the artistic development of young musicians. Scott Rush will dive into the very popular new method book, Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician, and show why it’s one of the most comprehensive methods out today! He will also discuss new additions and features to the method as well as new innovative teaching strategies currently being used by teachers in the trenches.

Scott Rush - Biographical Information

Scott Rush is the team lead for the “Habits” series published by GIA and is the former Director of Bands at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, SC. At Wando, the marching band was Bands of America Grand National Finalists on two occasions and performed at the 2007 Midwest Clinic. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. He currently serves as conductor of the Charleston Wind Symphony. Mr. Rush is active as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the United States and Canada. He is the author and co-author of eighteen highly touted books published by GIA. In 2010, Mr. Rush was elected to the prestigious American Bandmasters Association.
