Better Hands for Better Bands: A Conducting Refresher

Clinic Synopsis:

Whether teaching a high school marching band or middle school wind ensemble, proper conducting technique is a valuable component of the highly-effective band director. In this interactive and engaging clinic, Richardson and Glaser will provide tips and lead daily activities to prepare for the upcoming year on the podium. Brett Richardson - Biographical Information

In his twenty-fourth year as a conductor and music educator, Brett A. Richardson serves as the Director of Bands and Baenziger Professor of Music at the Texas Lutheran University School of Music. He is also the Conductor and Artistic Director of the San Antonio Harmonie Ensemble, a professional, community chamber winds group named National Winner of the 2023 American Prize Competition for community bands/wind ensembles. Sought after nationally for his versatility and energy as a conductor-teacher, Dr. Richardson has led heartfelt performances with performers of all ages across the United States, in addition to serving as an invited presenter to The Midwest Clinic (three times) and thirteen different state-affiliated music education conferences.

Kyle Glaser - Biographical Information

Dr. Kyle R. Glaser serves as Associate Director of Bands at Texas State University, Director of the Bobcat Marching Band, Professor of Music, and Conductor/Music Director of the Austin Symphonic Band, one of the premier community bands in the U.S. He holds a Doctor of Music degree in Wind Conducting and is the co-author of Conducting Enrichment by Sentia Publications. Glaser maintains an active schedule as a clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator across the nation. His significant research of the music of Robert Russell Bennett has resulted in a performance edition of the wind band suite Down to the Sea in Ships issued by Alfred Publications.
