Recognized for his exceptional teaching, he was named the 2025 Urbana Middle School Teacher of The Year. Before Urbana, Doug honed his craft as a high school band director in PA and MD, earning accolades as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and as the host of the Directors Circle podcast. His commitment to professional development is further demonstrated by his presentations at the Maryland Music Educators Association State Conference and the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division Conference. Doug's diverse background includes experiences as a former cruise ship musician and podcaster, which have enriched his approach to music education and given him unique insights into the art and business of music. A proud Penn State University alumnus with a degree in music education, he is now furthering his leadership skills by pursuing a master's in educational leadership at McDaniel College. Beyond music, Doug enjoys golf and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
