Doug Conrad - Biographical Information

Doug Conrad is the Band Director at Urbana Middle School in Frederick County, Maryland, where he has overseen significant growth in the program. In just three years under his leadership, the band has nearly doubled in size while consistently earning superior adjudication ratings. In recognition of his impact, Doug was named the 2025 Urbana Middle School Teacher of the Year. Prior to coming to Urbana, Doug taught high school band in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and performer, and has presented at the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division Conference. He serves as Advocacy Chair for the Maryland Music Educators Association, advancing musical opportunities for all students statewide. A proud Penn State University alumnus with a degree in music education, Doug brings a diverse perspective to the classroom, shaped by his experiences as a former cruise ship musician and podcaster. He is pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership at McDaniel College. Outside of music, he enjoys golf and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
