Itamar Danziger
- Biographical Information
Itamar Danziger is a composer, based in Kitchener, Ontario, composing tonal music integrating Classical, Folk, and Klezmer music styles. He aspires to highlight the emotional vividness which music can convey and hopefully invoke. Growing up in a musical family in Toronto, Itamar began playing the clarinet at age 7. As a child, he was exposed to Srul Irving Glick, a composer and family friend. Srul, as well as his compositional style, inspired Itamar to compose in earnest. Itamar has studied composition with Dr. Michael Damian, Michael Leibson, Amanda Lowry, and Arie Verheul van de Ven. Further orchestration studies took place with Dave Davidson and George Holmes. Ethnomusicology studies took place with Jonno Lightstone. Itamar's compositions have been performed publicly across North America, Europe, and Asia. Some of Itamar's compositions were aired on radio stations CKUT (Montreal), and CKJS (Winnipeg). Naomi's Dance (2022) was played in the American Concert Band 2023 conference, in Orlando, Florida. Arbutus Dance (2023) won the Bubbe Awards 2023 Best "Original Jewish Instrumental Theme" category. The submission was recorded by Mike Keddy (conductor) and the Greater Victoria Concert Band. Scores can be found on JWPepper and the Canadian Music Centre.
When not composing, Itamar enjoys his career as a social worker.
