Amy M. Knopps
- Biographical Information
Dr. Amy M. Knopps is Co-Interim Associate Director of the School of Music, Associate Director of Bands, and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Missouri, where she directs Marching Mizzou, Mini Mizzou, and Symphonic Band and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Music. Since returning to her alma mater, she has provided leadership for one of the nation’s most visible collegiate athletic band programs. Prior to her appointment at Mizzou, Dr. Knopps served as Associate Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands, and Director of Athletic Bands in the School of Music and Dance at Eastern Michigan University, where she made institutional history as the first woman to direct the EMU Marching Band. Dr. Knopps earned degrees from the University of Georgia (DMA), the University of Kansas (MM), and the University of Missouri (BS, Ed.), where her principal conducting teachers were Dr. John P. Lynch and Dr. Dale J. Lonis. Additional teaching experience includes several years as Director of Bands at Center High School and Center Middle School in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, where she led all aspects of a diverse and award-winning band program. An active conductor, clinician, and adjudicator, Dr. Knopps has worked with ensembles throughout Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, and South America. Dr. Knopps maintains professional affiliations with numerous organizations and currently serves as Chair of the CBDNA Athletic Bands Committee, the first woman to hold this national leadership position.

Dr. Lori Schwartz Reichl is the founder of Making Key Changes, LLC, a leadership development consultancy dedicated to helping individuals and organizations cultivate confident, compassionate, and high-performing leaders. Today, she leads a global classroom, having designed and delivered hundreds of workshops, keynote presentations, and leadership programs for corporations, associations, and educational institutions worldwide. Her engaging, actionable programs help teams align around a shared vision, elevate accountability, prevent burnout, and increase engagement.
Lori is also the creator of The Confidence Camp (for Kids) and The Confidence Retreat (for Adults), immersive leadership experiences designed to build confidence, character, and connection at every stage of life. She hosts the Making Key Changes weekly podcast and newsletter, sharing practical insights to help professionals lead with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
