Angela Antersol
- Biographical Information
Angela Antersol is an elementary band director with over 20 years of teaching experience. She currently serves as the band director at Smallwood Drive School in Amherst, New York. Under her leadership, the Smallwood Elementary Band has earned multiple Gold Medal ratings at NYSSMA Major Organization Festivals, including the ensemble’s first Gold with Distinction. Prior to her appointment in Amherst, she taught band and general music in Brasher Falls, NY, where she founded the district’s elementary instrumental program.
Mrs. Antersol holds a Master’s degree in Music Education Pedagogy from The Hartt School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, where she earned a Performer’s Certificate in clarinet and was named a Presidential Scholar. She specializes in elementary instrumental instruction, ensemble development, and creating systems that support diverse learners.
An active member of NAfME, NYSSMA, and ECMEA, Mrs. Antersol has served ECMEA as Instrumental Librarian and Executive Board member. She has chaired multiple All-County Elementary Bands and Orchestras and was honored to conduct the ECMEA All-County Elementary Band in 2019. She is a certified NYSSMA All-State woodwind adjudicator and regularly adjudicates solo festivals throughout Western New York.
In addition to her teaching, Mrs. Antersol presents at state and regional music education conferences, and maintains a private clarinet studio. She is passionate about finding creative, practical ways to enhance student performance and musical understanding.
