String educators have a wide selection of established and new string method books for classroom use. This session will focus on four key areas where educators can leverage these method books to complement and strengthen their unique curriculum and instructional objectives. By examining these four areas of focus, educators will be able to assess the strengths and potential of any chosen method book.
David Eccles
- Biographical Information
David F. Eccles serves as the Orchestra Program and Upper School Orchestra Director at The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia. A distinguished educator, he was honored with the O. Wayne Rollins Master Teacher Award in 2022. He currently serves as the President-Elect of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and sits on the board of the Foundation for the Advancement of String Education.
Before his tenure in Atlanta, Mr. Eccles spent over a decade as the Director of String Music Education and Orchestral Activities at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. A prolific clinician and conductor, he has led numerous state, regional, and youth orchestras across the country. He is a contributing author for the Hal Leonard Corporation and is featured in the pedagogical text, Rehearsing the High School Orchestra.
Mr. Eccles holds advanced degrees in Music Education from Florida State University and the University of Miami, and a Bachelor of Music and Media from Norfolk State University. He is an active member of GMEA, NAfME, Phi Mu Alpha, and Phi Kappa Lambda.
