Rob Chilton - Biographical Information

Rob Chilton is the owner of Readymade Music and has 20 years of experience as an educator in mixed-SES settings, including 15 years as a band director and 5 years as an educational consultant serving schools across the Dallas area. From 2007-2021, Chilton served as a middle school band director, most recently as Head Band Director at Killian Middle School in Lewisville, Texas (2014–2021). Under his direction, the Killian Honors Band was named the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association CC Honor Band and performed at the 2018 TMEA Clinic/Convention. In 2019, the ensemble was invited to perform at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Chilton’s work has been recognized nationally. In 2023, he was named one of Yamaha’s “40 Under 40” educators and was previously honored as Southern Methodist University’s “Young Music Educator of the Year” in 2014. A frequent presenter, Chilton has presented at the The Midwest Clinic (2010, 2022), the Texas Bandmasters Association (2007, 2009, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024), the Texas Music Educators Association (2010, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2026). A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Chilton studied music education with Lynne Jackson and Brian Merrill. Throughout his teaching career, he continued his professional development under the guidance of primary clinicians John Benzer and Brian Merrill. He currently resides in Frisco, Texas with his wife and son.
