Clinic Synopsis:

This session will introduce practical ways to help your students begin thinking non-classically, creatively, and discover all that is available to them as string players. Jazz? Rock? Justin Bieber? No experience necessary! Come boost your non-classical confidence.

Diana Ladio - Biographical Information

Diana Ladio graduated with highest honors from the University Of Michigan School Of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance with Teaching Certification. Diana is a studied Americana fiddler and classical violist and founded the group, The Moxie Strings (formerly String Cheese). She makes performs, records, and teaches enrichment clinics in non-classical music where she has taught in over 20 schools throughout the Midwest. Her teaching experience includes 10 years as a private instructor, 6 years in various positions at American String Teachers’ Association Summer Camp, Improvisation Coach at the Superior Strings Alliance Summer Camp, The Chelsea Fiddle Camp, among many other clinics and summer programs. Immediately after graduating, she received a long-term sub appointment teaching a revolutionary string program designed to access young elementary students.

Alison Lynn - Biographical Information

Alison Lynn is a studied contemporary cellist, specializing in rhythmic and percussive playing styles. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Western Michigan University under the instruction of Bruce Uchimura. As a co-founder of The Moxie Strings, Alison has taught enrichment clinics in over 20 schools throughout the Midwest, while also working as a School Sales Associate at Shar Music. Alison has performed with Kanye West, The Tran-Siberian Orchestra, among other national acts. Alison’s prior teaching experience includes 10 years of private instruction, and over 14 years as counselor, teacher and recreation director of the American String Teachers’ Association Summer Camp. She is an attendee of the Mark O’Connor Strings Conference, and has presented at the 2012 Michigan Music Conference, and 2012 Ohio Music Educators Professional Development Conference. Alison and The Moxie Strings were honored to be the featured artists and clinics at the Michigan Band and Orchestra Associations 1st Annual Alternative Styles Day.
